Harts of Teal, a faith-based non-profit started by ovarian cancer survivors.

In January 2001 at age 41 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in both ovaries and uterine cancer as well. I was in total shock as I had just been to see my gynecologist in March, not even a year earlier. I knew nothing about ovarian cancer much less anyone that survived it. I had the surgery and then took pelvic radiation treatment as prescribed by my surgeon. That was now 22 years ago. I have surveyed my life since then to thank God for all he has allowed me to accomplish. Hope is a great thing for someone with cancer. I am ever amazed at the advances being made in ovarian cancer treatment. This gives new hope everyday. I am grateful to my husband, Jim and my four kids the youngest in kindergarten and first grade at the time. The older kids were in college and high school. I couldn’t have made any of this journey without them. I have since been allowed to have two grandkids. God bless everyone touched by ovarian cancer.
