Harts of Teal, a faith-based non-profit started by ovarian cancer survivors.

“It’s just menopause bloating” I told myself— then I struggled to breathe… “it’s probably covid” I told myself— After 4 hours of tests in the ER I was told, it’s not covid… its cancer. Mind spinning after a recent divorce- “Im strong. I can do this.” Chest drained… lungs drained… exhaustion and fatigue. Whole world was spinning, all I could do was reach for Jesus, He said, “I got you, do you trust me” One week later I told my employer about my treatment plan, and they terminated me. All I could do was hold onto Jesus— every morning I would listen to music, cry and read the Bible. It reminded me if His strength when my world was still spinning. I knew He had a plan— and He did. I started my own music program for seniors called Harmony and me (harmonyandme.net) My puppy Harmony and I go to senior care communities and provide socially challenged seniors with live ukulele music and puppy snuggles. Other than the cancer, I’ve never been happier. Since launching in January, I now have 15 communities we visit. Cancer has GIVEN to me much more than it has taken. Now, I have time every single morning to do bible study, and fuel up on music to flood me with peace. Then from that well, there is plenty of opportunities to share Gods love and strength. Sometimes it’s with words, other times its song and just holding a resident’s hand. None of us know what our future looks like. but if we learn and study His faithfulness in the Bible- I can absolutely see Him every single day. After 9 rounds of chemo, I’m taking a break to re charge physically and live more life as best I can. It’s been a journey— but what a great ride—with Him.
