Harts of Teal, a faith-based non-profit started by ovarian cancer survivors.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February. We caught it impossibly early. It really is a God story and a miracle. It was completely undetectable. I have to give credit to Kim Airhart and Harts of Teal. I was a volleyball coach for the Starrs Mill volleyball team a couple of years ago. One day Kim Airhart came to the school and talked to the VB team about ovarian cancer. I hadn’t thought about that since the day she spoke. One thing she taught was that there was no test for ovarian cancer. A couple of years passed and I needed a hysterectomy for fibroids. The doctor was on the fence about whether or not we should take my ovaries. And out of nowhere I said that there is no test for ovarian cancer and that I would like them removed. Honestly it was the first time since Kim talked to the VB team that I even thought about that. But even then, I didn’t think anything of it. I just thought that it would be one less thing that could develop in the future. After the surgery, the pathology report came back. I had a tumor on my right ovary that was cancerous. After the pathology report, my gynecologist went back over scans/ ultrasounds. Even knowing that there was cancer and knowing where it was, they couldn’t see it anywhere. There was absolutely no evidence of the cancer until the pathology report came out. I absolutely believe that God put thought in my head and led to my early diagnosis. Without Kim’s and Harts of Teal’s efforts, my cancer would not have been detected until it was late stages.
